So, the school holidays have arrived and the great British summer time seems to have made an appearance too! (Currently raining outside my window).
There are so many organised events and activities that you can find to keep your children entertained this summer, but here are some of our favourites:
The Great Outdoors
Always our favourite. Burning off energy at the park, on a bike ride or having a picnic is usually at the top of the list. It is free, fun and great to fill your days with. We always like to take some of our fun party cups and plates along on a picnic to add a bit more fun to the occasion.
If the weather is not on your side and you need to stay indoors, why not have fun with it. Aside from the usual painting, crafts and play dough sessions, try getting creative with imagination play. Make a den from bed sheets and create a game out of hiding in it. You could also make it into a cosy den for reading or indoor picnics, again, get the fun plates and cups out for this to make it a real treat. Another indoor activity that we love is film afternoons. A big bowl of popcorn and a good film keeps the children happy. We sometimes create a comfy den on the sofa for while we are watching it. A duvet and lots of cushions is all you will need.
Galleries / Libraries
Often a forgotten option now, your local gallery and library will have lots on offer this summer to help provide entertainment for your little ones. They also have some great exhibitions on too. Earlier this year my local museum in Derby had a childhood TV exhibition which was loads of fun for both adults and children.
We hope you have lots of fun, whatever the weather.
